A common misconception has been revealed: Turkish people consume coffee mostly in the evening and at home.
The results of the "Coffee Consumption" study, which included remarkable data on coffee drinking habits, revealed that, contrary to popular belief, Turkish people prefer to drink coffee after dinner, not in the morning or at noon.
According to the findings of a survey conducted by Omega Research Organization Education Consultancy, Mikado Publications, and Kahve.gen.tr with 1,331 people across Turkey, 78.7% of Turkish citizens drink coffee regularly. The most common times of day for coffee consumption are after dinner (36.9%), lunch (24.6%), and breakfast (19.8%). 68.2% of participants drink their coffee at home, at work (27.7%), and outdoors (6.7%).
Of the participants who enjoy the taste and smell of coffee and believe it's relaxing and healthy, 68.6% prefer it plain, 37.7% with milk, and 13.9% with cream. 29.2% of Turkish people like to drink coffee when they're feeling tired.
First Taste, Then Maka Awareness
When choosing a coffee brand for home, factors such as taste, brand recognition, availability, and popularity in the community are paramount. Reasons for not drinking coffee include liking tea, believing it's harmful to health, disliking its taste, and childhood habits. According to the research, a large majority of Turkish people prefer to drink coffee outside the home as a social activity. The types of coffee consumed outside the home and the workplace also differ.
The study also includes results on interesting topics such as coffee addiction, consumption patterns, cooking methods, whether drinking coffee is a means of socializing, and preferences for purchasing coffee from vending machines.
